Avail an exquisite range of ciboria. Silver Plated Ciborium
The plural word for ciborium is ciboria. It is a cup that was used for drinking purposes in the earlier period but then later on it was used for religious purposes. In Medieval Latin period, ciborium was referred to as container which is covered from the top. ciboria are very much similar to the shape of chalices. In the case of a ciborium, the bowl that is used is in a more rounded shape as compared to a chalice since in the case of chalices, it is constructed in a conical shape. The significance of a ciborium is that a cross or even a pattern which portrays something holy or sacred is made on the bowl of a ciborium. This particular feature also makes its different from chalices. In the earlier period of Christian church, the sacred drink that was kept in a ciborium was not placed in churches. The reason behind it is the fear that existed between the people of church. People were in a fear that it might get stolen by some outsider or even some violence or damage may also happen to it. For such reasons, it began being kept in homes for safety purposes.
