I was already delighted with the cross and chain when I opened the parcel yesterday, but when I got home and was able to examine the cross by magnifying glass, I was even more pleased. The quality both of your silversmithing and of your enameled's work is incredible, and there is a huge amount of detail which I had never expected could be put in without it becoming prohibitively expensive. This really is an extremely accurate replica of the St Cuthbert's Cross - far more so than I ever expected when I commissioned it. I look forward to seeing the original in Durham later this summer; I shall expect to be even more impressed by your work when I can compare yours against the original.

Much oohing and aahing was heard as the parishioners were given their first viewing of your work at the dedication on Friday. A neighbouring priest was particularly impressed wanting to know where we had got them from.!

The ciborium has just arrived here at the vicarage. it is beautiful and fits in perfectly with the other large ciborium that we have. I am sure the family that are givingt he ciborium in memory of Jim will be delighted as I am!

Just thought I would drop you a line to say how thrilled the Commanding Officer was with the 'Herman'. It made it back in time for the medal parade and was centre stage when HRH the Duke of Edinburgh arrived in the CO's office to sign the visitor's book. The Duke himself commented on what an impressive piece of Silver it was!!

Needless to say Herman will take pride of place in the Officers' Mess and will grace the table on many a function to come.

I am most grateful to you for your prompt and expert attention that you gave the repair of the repair of the Curriers' Company Beadle's staff head. The ring on the chalice is my late mother's engagement ring --- a memory of not only her but my family who presented me with the Chalice when I was ordained.
